Visitors Have Left The Building

After 21 days of pure heaven all of my house guests have left for home. CC would say the remodeling crew, but who am I to nit pick? Yes they all worked like slaves and somehow this house looks very much like a nice home. There is no way any of this would have happened without the backbreaking work of my family (aren't they wonderful?). I am happy to say there is now little chance of the house burning down due to unfortunate wiring of light fixtures and such due to poppa who patiently put up lights in every room of the house and has taught me how to re-wire outlets and switches (a skill every woman should know).

I just wish they could have stayed to enjoy the fruits of their labors.

Homecoming Dance

The boys all went to the dance Saturday night. They were all clean and pressed for the event wearing crisp new shirts and ties. Oma was busy all day pressing shirts and suits that needed a freshen up. She and I were also busy that day making the ribbon corsages that the girls wear down here instead of regular flowers. We had a good time and finished the three of them for the boys dates, but they are a ton of work to do. Poppa was on hand for emergency tie tying. More than one person showed up tie in hand saying "does anyone know how to tie one of these things?". It was very fun, as the whole crew showed up at the house here so we could take pictures of them. I am really going to miss these guys next year.

Tucker had a great time building a spooky halloween graveyard with Oma while everyone was runing through the house getting ready.

Homecoming Game

It went some thing like this.....

We are the home team with the 39 points. What a great homecoming game it was. Both Jeff and Mitch played really well. Poppa and CC were there and we all had a great time.

Tucker and CC with their game faces on. Well hair too...

Tucker and Me at the game. Sporting our face paint.

The half time entertainment, the official burning of the Kats. Poppa says they need a new fire crew as the best it did was smolder..

Everyone has been working like slaves on the house. We have tons of work done and I am thrilled with the results. Very cool. CC says this is the worst vacation she has taken in a long time, all we have done is work, work, work. I will really miss them when they leave this week. I have a sneaking suspicion they will all heave a great big sigh of relief as they see the state of Louisiana in their rear view window.

Mitchels Birthday #18

Mitchel and Monica While Mitch is trying to blow out all of those candles.

Mitchel had a great birthday. I always let the boys choose there own menu for their big day, his favorite foods are ribs (I grilled 2 kinds, and added bacon cheddar hamburgers and grilled chicken just because), garlic mashed potatoes, I threw in a big salad for looks, and triple chocolate cake. Mitch is definitly a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Lots of his friends showed up and all had a great time. This birthday was very special since Oma was here. She worked cleaning and scrubbing and organizing all day for the big event. We couldn't have pulled it off without her help.

Mitch and I early one morning before school on a Football game day. We were both still very sleepy.

It is still hard to believe that he is 18. Time has flown by way too fast.

Before The Dining Room Remodeling

After Oma has waived her magic wand over the dining room.

The framed picture on the wall is a chalk board where the boys can leave me all sorts of messages. I love things that are different with alot of color, and I could not be happier with the way the room has turned out. The wall of stripes was time consuming to paint, but the overall effect was perfect. I have to say, Oma and I have been planing for months how to remodel the house. Although I have told her what I like (and she knows it anyway) it has been a godsend having your own personal decorator on hand to not only design the house, but help you do the work as well. The boys love the new look and comment on it regularly. We are going to work room by room through the house, I wish she could stay for longer but I guess three weeks is the best we can do for now.

Remodeling, Part One

Oma has landed, she immediately came into the house and began throwing around design and paint ideas. We are going for paint first thing in the am. In my defense I did get the guest room painted and cleaned for her before she arrived. It is the only room that is painted in the house but gosh I have been swamped with all of the boys stuff. The boys did pull together and help me clean the house today Snapp was a godsend and mowed the yard, so all in all the casa was presentable (mostly).

I am very, very glad to have some assistance with this big project of mine. In retrospect buying a home that needed this much remodeling was probably not one of my most brilliant ideas, but the pool... I just had to have the pool, and the size of this house is perfect for me. I can actually hear myself think part of the time.

So it's off to the hardware store for paint and light fixtures. All of the lights in the house need replaced. They are all loose and dangling. Dangling ceiling fans are not a good thing, they wobble everywhere. It's pretty funny actually, but Oma is not seeing the humor in my electrical issues so off they go. I am saying a prayer that I do not electrocute myself this time, I do not like messing with power, but there isn't anyone else here to do it so I am stuck.

Weekend Events

Tucker and I took the afternoon and went out for a drive, very relaxing. This is the perfect time of year for driving with the top down, only in the 80's during the day.

Jeff is going to the Parkway Homecoming Dance tonight (then next week to Airline then next to Bossier) he is the social butterfly of the family.

We are also very excited to have family coming to the new house. My mom will be here on Tuesday, and CC & Poppa will be here about a week later. They are all coming for the boys Homecoming game. The boys are all very exited to have new people around to have fun with (I think they are a little tired of me). They are also coming to help me get started on the new house renovations. I am very happy to have help, this is a big house with a lot that needs to be done. I am hopeful that we can get the entire interior repainted and decorated before they leave.

Thursday Night Football

This week was a Thursday night game we lost 14 to 19, the team almost made it a win but couldn't quite get there. Mitch was trying to rally the offensive line during defense and Jeff was inciting the crowd to cheer in the fourth quarter while he was on the field between plays. He was jumping up and down and waiving his arms for the crowd to get involved and it worked. They are great and really tried to do all they could. The night was wonderful, very cool which is unusual for this time of year (60s).

The boys are having their senior pics done this weekend and I have requested a pic of the three of them together. I cannot wait to see how they turn out.
